Welcome back! Heading into Season 6, this will be our first tasting under ever-changing guidelines with respect to COVID-19. We hope to eventually resume in-person tastings with our friends at BNA but until then, we aim to provide the same level of quality and value with our tastings remotely via the Zoom app (see below if you’ve never used Zoom before). Tasting in a socially distanced manner via Zoom will hopefully still satisfy our desire to try new whiskies and enjoy them with our friends in the safest manner possible. As mentioned in our email from several weeks ago, we’ve elected to arrange four tastings this season, in an effort to give us flexibility in planning and adapting to changes in our new normal. These will include this September tasting, a November peated whisky event, a Robbie Burns night in January, and then the renaissance of our postponed North American tasting held over one full year in March 2021.

And so, for the first tasting of our abbreviated 2020/2021 tasting season, we decided to curate a selection of whiskies from among those distilleries we enjoy the most. To that end, we have a bit of an eclectic, mixed bag of delicious mostly single cask or small batch offerings. We have an odd corn whiskey from a well-known bourbon distillery to start things off on a curious note and let us explore a unique niche in American whiskey, a beautiful mature lowland single grain and a pair of gorgeous summer whiskies from WM Cadenhead to get us back into the swing of things, a fiery Arran, and one of best readily available sherried Islays in the form of Ardbeg’s Uigeadail. As usual, Claude will be on hand to present some information about his favourite Scottish distilleries, and to answer any and all questions you might have.

As we are handling this tasting via Zoom, we’ve packaged up the whiskies into individual tasting kits including 6 mini bottles, so do get in touch with us after you’ve purchased a ticket to arrange pickup of your kit. Additionally, we’ll have tasting notes available electronically, and the Zoom invitation will be emailed out to you the day prior.
